PostSubject: Dark Ambient Music   Sun Nov 11, 2012 8:10 am

Dark ambient is an ambient music which featuring foreboding, ominous, or discordant overtones, which triggering some intense feelings/emotions in people whom listened to it. due to the sinister yet dark tones, dark ambient music is not everyone cup of tea and thus, not very well known compared to other type of ambient music till today.

However, lately Dark ambient music had been developed and used in both magic and religious purpose, making it as important item/tool to aid people in their path. Most of Dark ambient music today found to be linked to satanism, left handed path, ancient magic, sex magic, occultism and demonology. Basically, dark ambient music can be divided into several subgenre such as :

1. Noise Ambient

Filled with intense noises of machine, radio transmission, broken equipment, morgue noises, processed concrete sounds and wave beats. used either to bring clinical effects or feeling of isolation and fear in a person. One of the example is ''clinical lycantrophy'' by PROSEKTOR.

2. Death ambient.

filled with all kind of scary/terrifying sounds to describe death, like noises of eerie dead people(ghosts), and sounds of atmosphere in catacomb, crypt, haunted house, graveyard, etc. example of death ambient is called as '' The Left Hand Of The Dead'' by Endura in Black Eden album.

3. Ritual ambient

Filled with sounds, noises and enchanting voices which describe the ritualistic or religious atmosphere. in such ritual ambient, the sounds of cracking fire, bells, drum, humans skull and bones, howls, humming, demonic whispers, etc commonly used but the selection of these sounds as well as the invocation/enchantment depend on what kind of ritual performed. Example of ritual ambient music is by LAShTAL, called ''Invocation Of Nag-Zhig''.

4. Black ambient

This dark ambient is kinda mix between ambient noises/sounds and black metal. Usually filled with heavy sounds of instruments like guitar and drum, harsh screams which sometimes can be unusual to ears followed with voices of tortured souls, demonic vocals consisted of chants or invocations, Pitch-black, hellish and Often has "diabolic" / pseudo-satanic overtones. At times this music sounds like a soundtrack to a horror movie and incorporates dark symphonic anthems. Another variation of Black Ambient is the evil-tinged calm music with barely heard hummings, distant ritual chants and subtle unidentifiable noise. best example is ''Vudkodlak'' by Black Funeral and Lycanthrope-Legions of noises.

5. Black Space.

Black space ambient is another dark ambient which consist mainly of cosmic sounds, bubbling noises, echoing, dark cosmic synths, incorporating space ambiences like signals from celestial objects, noisy transmissions from spacecrafts, etc. this sounds giving effects such as makes you feel as if you're on a desolate spaceship orbiting a planet in the darkest region of space. Black space theme can be found in Scapegoat - ''Attainment of death posture.''

6. Medieval ambient.

Also known as Gothic Ambient, which is essentially quiet and serene Gothic music with female vocals, while the background noises/sounds is dark, haunting and spooky. Medieval Ambient combines elements of Neo-Classical Ambient with medieval and cathedral ambiences with voices, church bells, spooky church organ, etc. Example is by Arcana- Love eternal.

7. Martial Ambient

This ambient usually filled with war theme noises/sounds like air sirens, gunshots, war screams, etc and accompanied with marching music and forlorn atmosphere. Example is Cold fusion- Report I.

is this music good for dark meditation.

Not all dark ambient can be used for dark meditation. the most recommended is ritual ambient music because it have lots invocations of darkness/demons which suitable for meditation. I suggest Black funeral-moon of characith, Angro-mainyush, rites of qlippoth, self immolation by Michael W ford. google search and you will find several sites for downloaded these
